A personal brand is a perception that others have of you based on your background, skills, and how you are putting yourself out there into the world. ALL individuals in this world have a personal brand.

And it is a great time to take control of your personal brand on social media because more than ever people are turning to social media and the internet to learn about each other.

Employers, clients, and even potential dating partners search for each other on social media. I love this quote by Tim Ferris because it is so true: “Personal branding is about managing your name- even if you don’t own a business- in a world of misinformation, disinformation, and semi-permanent Google records. Going on a date? Chances are that your “blind” date has Googled your name. Going to a job interview? Ditto”.

Throughout this book, I want to show you, that you can have control over your personal brand and how others perceive you.

As a coach or consultant, we will be focusing on applying this perception of personal branding to professional scenarios. For example, if a client is looking for services you provide, our goal is to make sure through intentionally working on your personal branding, they understand who you are, who you help, and how you can best be suited to help them.

Digging a little deeper, a genuine personal brand is not a “surfacey” thing, it is an emotional connection. Anyone these days can use filters and fancy photography to have pretty pictures, but that is not what it takes to build an authentic personal brand. When creating your personal brand, find what sets you apart (and makes you unique) and build a reputation around the things you want to be known for.


Common Misconception: “I need to show up perfectly online”
I know many people feel pressure to show up “perfectly” and “filtered” online, but I want to assure you that what I will be teaching you in this book is not that. I want you to show up authentically and professionally. As a professional, being yourself and sharing your expertise can help you set yourself apart and build a reputation that can help you personally and professionally. Especially nowadays people crave REAL, so showing up authentically and as your true self, can not only build the know, like, and trust your audience has for you, it can also be more fun.
