I often think of what my life would have been if I had not jumped off the hamster wheel.

Where I was 6 years ago, is like when Chris Farley says in the movie Tommy Boy, “Forget it, I quit, I can't do this anymore, man. My head's about to explode. My whole life sucks. I don't know where I'm going, what I'm doing. My dad just died, we just killed Bambi, I'm out here getting my ass kicked and every time I drive down the road I wanna jerk the wheel INTO A GODDAMNED BRIDGE EMBANKMENT.” Lol, as awful as it sounds, I was in a bad place. I was miserable, exhausted and incredibly unhappy with what I was doing and it was a struggle just to drive to work each day.

I am typically a happy person, but I was so sad and unhappy.

I put in my two week notice, without a sure plan and I dove into the world of entrepreneurship. Over the years and after fighting EVERY SINGLE DAY to make this work, I could still not have dreamed that I get to do what I get to do now each and every day.

Especially lately I have felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and passion for the things I get to do each day and for those I get to help.

There was truly a time in my life when I thought this life was not possible, it was a total myth and there was no way to earn the amount of money I was earning doing anything else. Sheesh, thank GOD I took the risk.

This leads me to my main point…. We were not put on this earth to work crazy hours in a shitty job we hate.

Tomorrow is not promised. Today is the day to start finding joy and happiness in the present. Stop postponing your happiness to a year from now... when you have this or have that.... be happy right now. Stop waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Let’s talk now about a few stressors…. and how it’s all going to be okay!

Fact: a few of the main stressors in life are: losing a loved one, financial/debt, losing your job, divorce.

105 people die each minute. Nearly 2 people every second. Love those around you and tell them often how much you appreciate them. They could be gone tomorrow.

Financial/Debt- talk to a professional, get a plan in place instead of hiding, you are not alone. 8 in 10 Americans are in debt... put a plan of action in place and attack!

Fear of losing your job- give it 110% everyday, no matter who is watching. Chances are you will outgrow it anyway and if not, update your LinkedIn profile, brush off your resume and keep your options open. I spoke to my business advisor a couple years ago and she told me that in 9/11 thousands of people were left without jobs.... She helped them pick up the pieces and find new jobs.... She said 99% of them were happier months later when asked how they were doing in their new jobs. They said they would have never switched jobs before such a horrific event, but were much happier.

Divorce- your heart may be breaking, but you will get through this. There is life on the other side and it might be time to give yourself the time and attention you need. Get to know yourself again... I promise you this is not the end of the world.
