Why Coaches and Consultants Are Thriving in 2025 (Despite What You've Heard About AI)

Spoiler alert: Reports of the course's death have been greatly exaggerated.

We're living through what feels like the business equivalent of discovering fire. Every day brings a new AI tool, another automation shortcut, and fresh predictions about which industries will survive the tech revolution. If you're a coach, consultant, or service professional wondering whether your expertise still matters in this quickly changing new world... well, you're not alone.

Recently, we decided to have an unscripted conversation about the elephant in the room: What's really happening in our industry right now? Are courses actually dead? Is LinkedIn still working? And most importantly, do people still need what we're offering?

Here's what we discovered.

The Knowledge Paradox: More Information, More Need for Expertise

Yes, there's more information available than ever before. You can type virtually any question into AI and get an answer faster than you can say "thought leadership." But here's the plot twist: this abundance of information has created an even greater need for real expertise.

Think about it. When everyone has access to the same information, what becomes valuable? The person who can cut through the noise, provide clarity, and say, "I've been there, done that, and here's what actually works."

People aren't just looking for information anymore. They're looking for transformation. They want someone to hold their hand and say, "I've got you. Here's the path. Let's walk through this together."

And last we checked, AI can't do that. (Though we're sure someone's working on it.)

The Online Course Situation: Evolution, Not Extinction

"Courses are dead" has become the new "email marketing is dead" (which, by the way, was also wildly incorrect). The truth is more nuanced.

If your course could be replaced by a Google search or a well-crafted ChatGPT prompt, then yes, you might have a problem. But if you're consistently evolving your content, adding current insights, and injecting elements that only come from real experience? You're golden.

Here's a practical example: Scott’s LinkedIn course has been around for years, but we are currently working on adding some AI tools, to help streamline client success more than ever! Participants will be able to optimize their LinkedIn profiles with AI assistance while learning our proven framework. The result? A course that's more valuable than ever.

The key is asking yourself: Could someone learn this without me? If the answer is yes, it's time to level up.

LinkedIn: The Untapped Goldmine That Keeps Giving

While everyone's debating the death of various marketing channels, LinkedIn quietly had its sixth consecutive quarter of growth. Engagement and comments increased 30% from Q2 to Q3 alone.

But here's what makes us want to shake people by the shoulders: LinkedIn is still massively underutilized.

We recently saw a challenge encouraging people to post 10 times a day on LinkedIn for 30 days. That's 300 posts. Our immediate reaction? Overwhelming exhaustion followed by mild horror. There's no way anyone creates valuable content at that pace, which means most of those posts will be digital noise.

LinkedIn rewards quality, not quantity. We typically see 10,000+ impressions with just three or four thoughtful posts per week. The platform still prioritizes thought leadership, storytelling, and genuine connection over content volume.

This isn't just another social media platform. LinkedIn is your lead generation source, your sales pipeline, and your client acquisition engine all rolled into one. But only if you use it strategically.

The Mindset That Changes Everything

Here's the uncomfortable truth: Much of what's happening in the business world right now is mindset. If you're approaching these changes from a place of lack (lack of knowledge, lack of opportunities, lack of relevance), you'll get left behind.

But if you approach them with curiosity and excitement about the possibilities? That's where the magic happens.

We're not suggesting you blindly embrace every new tool or trend. We're suggesting you stay curious, keep learning, and remember that human connection will never go out of style.

Your Next Steps

If you're feeling uncertain about where you fit in this rapidly evolving landscape, here's what we recommend:

  1. Audit your offerings: Look at your courses, services, and programs through fresh eyes. Where can you add current insights, AI tools, or enhanced value?

  2. Embrace the evolution: Instead of fearing change, see it as an opportunity to serve your clients better than ever.

  3. Focus on LinkedIn: If you're not strategically using LinkedIn to build your authority and generate leads, you're missing out on one of the most effective platforms available.

  4. Remember your value: Your experience, insights, and ability to provide clarity in a noisy world are more valuable than ever.

The business world is changing rapidly, but the fundamental human need for guidance, clarity, and connection remains constant. Your expertise isn't becoming obsolete, it's becoming more essential.

The question isn't whether you'll survive these changes. The question is how you'll thrive because of them.
