What is Pillar Content and Which One Should You Be Creating?

Pillar content is a piece of long-form content. It can come in the form of a blog, a video, or a podcast! Most personal brands, professionals, and educators online create a pillar piece of content each week to really focus their content and message around.
The thing is many people learn AND communicate differently, so not everyone likes to create that leading pillar piece of content the same way. The whole point though is you will benefit by creating a main pillar piece of content because it will give you the opportunity to break down that content into multiple posts and content.
First I am going to break down the different pieces of pillar content and what they are, second I will be sharing some tips for each!
Blog: A blog is a form of online publishing that allows anyone to post articles on anything they feel like. Blogs can be used for personal or professional purposes, but are most often written by people who wish to share their thoughts and opinions with others in an informal setting.
I love to write blogs and also repurpose them into LinkedIn articles. So my blog posts are mainly educational, filled with tips and value. Think of topics such as “how-to” or “3 tips”, or this content right now “what is”.
Tips: voice record, talk to text on phone
Video: Can be a recorded video (any length) of yourself sharing value about a topic. I recommend the length to be between 2-5 minutes long. This is plenty of time to grab additional content from it, plus people's attention spans are super short…. Any longer and it may not work for your audience… the main point here though is, what does your audience want?
Tips: *teleprompter app on Mac, zoom
Podcast: Digital audio file available on the internet for downloading/listening to, like a radio show. Doing a short episode once or twice a week will provide that pillar content and message.
