Personal Branding- Who Do You Help? Avatar
Sep 27, 2021“When you reach too far and try to help too many people, the message will be watered down so much that no one will truly benefit.” - Steve Eakin, Entrepreneur Magazine
Identify your Avatar.
Now that you have worked through your niche and the audience that you will be connecting with, we are now going to choose a specific “avatar” so we can put a name and face to the person you are targeting. Remember, imagine you have 100 amazing clients lined up at the door ready to work with you. Let’s start by creating an avatar of who that client could be, to help better understand them.
Top marketing firms do this for companies and often they create multiple avatars. The IDEAL avatar, the “might be a good avatar one day”, the avatar we DO NOT want to work with. For this exercise I want you to understand that creating an avatar allows you to advertise, promote and build your platform in the right places for the right people. It allows you to execute your strategy, monitor, and adapt, you will learn more about what is working and what is not.
The more you know about what your avatar wants, values, and needs the more easily you will be able to connect to them. When you choose an avatar it becomes easier to write marketing copy, choose the right images for advertising, create content for them and solve problems with your services.
**Tip: do not overthink this. You may pick one avatar that might change, that is fine, but we must start somewhere.
Think about:
Who are you building your product for?
What kinds of customers would you really like to work with?
If you wrote a book, who would read it?
If you could clone 1 person and there would be 100s ready to work with you, who would that person be? If you are still stuck, think about who you have LEAST enjoyed serving (think about the opposite)?
Now let’s dive in:
