How to Get More Visibility From Your LinkedIn Newsletter (3 Upgrades Most Creators Miss)
If you’ve been publishing a LinkedIn Newsletter but feel like the engagement slows down after the first few editions, you’re not alone. This is one of the biggest frustrations I hear from creators:
“I have subscribers… but my visibility keeps dropping. How do I get more eyes on my newsletter?”
Here’s the good news:
Your content probably isn’t the problem.
It’s your visibility strategy.
LinkedIn gives you several tools to boost your reach, but most creators don’t even know these features exist — and those missed opportunities add up.
In this week’s breakdown, I’m walking you through the three simple upgrades that dramatically increase your visibility, subscriber growth, and overall engagement on LinkedIn Newsletters.
Upgrade #1: Use the LinkedIn Newsletter Video Cover Feature
This is one of the newest and most impactful visibility tools LinkedIn has released.
Instead of using a static thumbnail for your newsletter cover (which is still an option), you can now upload a 30–60 second horizontal video that automatically plays when someone visits your newsletter page.
Why this matters:
-
Video instantly grabs attention
-
It adds personality and connection
-
LinkedIn is currently giving extra visibility to newsletters that use this feature
-
Viewers are more likely to subscribe after watching a short intro
A simple script works best — something like:
“Hey everyone, this is . Thanks for subscribing to the . In this week’s edition, I’m breaking down X, Y, and Z. Let me know your biggest takeaway in the comments!”
You can record this in Zoom, save the file, and upload it directly into your newsletter cover options.
Even if you don’t have the feature yet, keep an eye out — when it appears, use it immediately.
Upgrade #2: Optimize Your SEO Title & Description (Most People Skip This!)
This is one of the most overlooked visibility tools inside LinkedIn.
When you create your newsletter and finish writing the edition:
-
Click Manage on the top right
-
Click Settings
-
You’ll see two SEO fields:
-
SEO Title (separate from your newsletter title)
-
SEO Description (140–160 characters recommended)
-
These fields help your newsletter appear not only in LinkedIn search, but on Google, Yahoo, Bing, and other search engines.
This means your content can be discovered far beyond your existing audience.
What should you write here?
I use this workflow every single week:
After I finish my newsletter draft, I copy the full content and paste this into ChatGPT:
“Give me an SEO title and an SEO description (140–160 characters) using keywords and summarizing this newsletter: ”
Then I use those results in my LinkedIn SEO settings.
This alone can significantly increase your reach.
Upgrade #3: Add Images Inside Your Newsletter Editions
Most people only use a single cover image.
But adding visuals inside the body of your newsletter increases:
-
Dwell time (time spent reading)
-
Reader engagement
-
Clarity and understanding
-
Overall visibility
LinkedIn tracks dwell time very closely. When readers stay longer, LinkedIn shows your newsletter to more people.
Examples of visuals that work:
-
Screenshots with arrows or highlights
-
Step-by-step visuals
-
Small infographics
-
Before/after examples
-
Tutorial images
To add an image, simply click the Add Image/Video icon in the top toolbar inside your newsletter editor.
You don’t need to add images every single time — but using them on more technical or instructional topics can make a massive difference.
Why These 3 Upgrades Work So Well
These strategies improve visibility because they increase:
✔ Discoverability
SEO title + description → more search traffic, inside and outside LinkedIn.
✔ Engagement
Images + video improve connection and increase time spent reading.
✔ Subscriber growth
When users can preview who you are through video, they’re more likely to click "Subscribe."
✔ Reach
LinkedIn rewards newsletters that use native features — especially new ones.
Put simply:
These upgrades help more people see → read → engage with → share your content.
Start Applying This to Your Next Edition
If your newsletter has slowed down, or you’re just getting started and want to do it right, these three upgrades will immediately increase your visibility:
-
Add the LinkedIn Video Cover Feature
-
Optimize your SEO title & description
-
Use images throughout your editions
Your ideas deserve to be seen — these tools help make that happen.
