Does LinkedIn Still Work in 2026? Yes, and Here Is What Changed
Oct 28, 2026
We keep hearing the same things from business owners lately.
“LinkedIn doesn’t work anymore.”
“I’m not generating any leads.”
“No one is engaging with my content.”
“I’m not closing any sales.”
So let’s answer the question directly. Does LinkedIn still work? Yes. It still works for us, it still works for the people we coach, and it can still work for you. But the way it works has changed, and that is the part most people are missing.
In this post, we will share recent wins from our own business, a couple of client results, the three habits that separate the people winning on LinkedIn from the people giving up on it, and the one question you need to ask yourself before you decide LinkedIn is broken.
Does LinkedIn Still Work? Here Is What Happened in the Last Four Weeks
We do not want to tell you LinkedIn still works. We want to show you.
Here is what LinkedIn produced for our business in roughly the last four weeks:
-
We booked a half day business consulting engagement, one of our highest paying engagements to date.
-
We signed a new one to one coaching client who had been watching our content.
-
We received a referral from a current client for one of our programs.
-
We filled one of our group coaching programs, which now has nearly 20 people in it.
-
We filled one of our paid LinkedIn workshops.
-
We continued to grow our email list.
None of that came from a secret new tactic. It came from showing up consistently, creating content with real value, and starting conversations with the right people.
The Wins Are Not Just Happening to Us
Our clients are seeing results too.
One of our clients launched a coaching and consulting practice and is now at full capacity with 18 recurring clients. A large portion of that business came from LinkedIn referrals, LinkedIn Live trainings, a LinkedIn newsletter, and people simply reaching out after reading the content.
Another client ran her very first LinkedIn Live workshop. More than 100 people accepted the invitation to attend.
These are service professionals using LinkedIn the way it works today, not the way it worked five years ago.
The Real Question: Has LinkedIn Changed, or Have You?
If you feel like LinkedIn stopped working, we want you to ask yourself one honest question.
Have I adapted to the changes on LinkedIn, or am I still doing the same things I was doing in 2017?
The LinkedIn algorithm has changed. Content visibility is less predictable than it used to be. That part is true. But the platform is constantly evolving, which means your strategy has to evolve with it.
The way we use LinkedIn today, and the way we teach our clients to use it, looks completely different than it did a few years ago. What has stayed the same is that it still works.
If you are doing the same thing and expecting different results, the problem is not the platform.
The Three Habits That Make LinkedIn Work
The people who are most consistent on LinkedIn are the ones who keep winning in business. Consistency comes down to three daily and weekly habits.
1. Grow your network every day
Connect with new people daily. A simple target is 15 new connection requests a day to people who could become ideal clients or business allies down the road. You cannot sit around and wait for people to find you. You have to plant seeds.
2. Start genuine conversations through direct messages
Message people authentically every single day. That could be a new connection, someone who subscribed to your newsletter, someone who voted in your poll, someone who engaged with a post, or someone celebrating a work anniversary.
Keep it human. LinkedIn does not reward long, copy and paste pitch messages, and neither do the people receiving them.
3. Create at least three pieces of thought leadership content each week
Right now, the highest quality content on LinkedIn is what is generating the most business opportunities. That means content that tells a story, delivers real value, and leaves people better than it found them.
If you are not creating thought leadership content consistently, you are missing the biggest driver of leads on the platform today.
Use LinkedIn to Grow Your Email List
Social media is rented land. One of the smartest ways to use LinkedIn is to move people from the platform into your email list, compliantly and naturally.
Here are the places LinkedIn gives you to do that:
-
Your Featured section. Add a calendar link to book a call, a lead magnet, or your website.
-
Your profile link. If you have LinkedIn Premium, you can add a button at the top of your profile that points to your newsletter, a booking page, or a resource.
-
Your LinkedIn newsletter. Every edition can end with a hyperlink to book a call, join a workshop, grab a free guide, or take an assessment. LinkedIn emails each edition to your subscribers, so that link travels with it.
-
Your LinkedIn Live events. Every live training is a chance to give a clear call to action and let people know what you offer.
If you want people to take the next step, you have to tell them what the next step is.
You Cannot Quit
Here is the plain and simple truth. The moment you quit is the moment you guarantee LinkedIn will not work for you.
The opportunities are still there. The clients are still there. The business is still there.
The only question is whether you are willing to make the necessary changes and stay committed long enough to see the results.
