3 Tips When Having Coaching Conversations

I am writing this because I received some pretty phenomenal advice from my husband and it truly changed my perspective and how I approach my client calls each week….

I felt frustrated because I felt the need to “solve all problems” to “show up” in every way for my clients.

I truly get INVOLVED in my client’s businesses, I want them to win, sometimes more than they do…. And let me tell you right now, you CAN’T want it more than they do.

After having a conversation with my husband, who is an expert coach, best selling author, and speaker, he told me something that really stuck with me. He said “Nancy, stop creating stories, stop overthinking, meet people where they are at”. “With every call, listen, Discover what is needed. Each Call.“

That has stuck with me and has taken pounds of stress and weight off my shoulders.

It has made me think about these three things….

What to do when you have client calls:

  1. Stop overthinking things.
  2. Listen.
  3. Listen More.

Drop Expectations and Observe:

  1. Stop “over prepping”
  2. Get what needs to be done, done.
  3. Listen.

Leave them better:

  1. After listening to their needs….
  2. Share your thoughts and takeaways.
  3. Give incite and next steps.

In conclusion, next time you see a client call on your calendar, feel relief, not anxiety… feel happiness and excitement for how you will approach this conversation.
